My next drive

When I was in my twenties, I fell in love with traveling.  It started in college, driving to other campuses to see my friends and visit family.  I loved the solitude, and thinking opportunities being alone provided.  When I decided at the age of 25 to drive across the country to sights unseen,  I felt fearless and brave, entering a new world.  I tucked my old cassettes into the player, and away I went.  I would tune into the local stations through each passing town, as I took in new sights.
Well, the opportunity to travel alone presented itself this past week, as I headed to my hometown.  I downloaded two songs to worship and pray through, and over and over the songs played.  I prayed for lost souls, asking the Lord to reveal names as I said each one aloud.  I felt revived, and renewed after my trip, perhaps it was the air flowing all around, or the open landscape that presented itself bare.  The drive itself is in the heart of farmland, the roadside dotted with remnants of Amish drivers.  The smell of newly planted fields of gold.  I wonder when my next drive will be!

A worthy poem

So live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about their religion;respect others in their view, and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life, beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and its purpose in the service of your people. Prepare a noble death song for the day when you go over the great divide.

Always give a word or a sign of salute when meeting or passing a friend, even a stranger, when in a lonely place. Show respect to all people and grovel to none.

When you arise in the morning give thanks for the food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies only in yourself. Abuse no one and no thing, for abuse turns the wise ones to fools and robs the spirit of its vision.

When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.....Tecumseh

Warrior = redemption

This movie is heavy with meaning, and symbolism.  The powers of bitterness, brotherhood, forgiveness and redemption are woven intrinsically together to make for a great story.  The ending holds the key to this great movie.  Two brothers forced to fight for prize money, one brother seeking both vengeance and understanding, the other offering forgiveness and love.  And the father that witnesses both from the sidelines, as he cheers his sons on.............

First favorite quote of 2012

 "I can see through the woods of the world: God is always good and I am always loved." J.J. Packer
